The Company
Based in Gmunden, Austria, Zambelli KG is a specialized provider of highly configurable industrial workplaces for clients across Austria and Germany. As a key distributor of Treston products, they also offer value-added services like 3D printing and kit assembly.
The Challenge
Zambelli KG had already invested significant time and money into an Odoo implementation with another partner, but the project had ground to a halt. Frustration was high, as the previous partner lacked the crucial expertise in core Odoo features, such as the pricelist functionality needed for Zambelli's complex product structures. This left them with a non-functional system and a sense of wasted investment. The challenge for OCTIC was not to start from scratch, but to strategically rescue the existing build, get it to a production stage quickly, and restore faith in the platform — all while being mindful of the client's budget.
The Solution
Octic IT Consulting combined technical expertise with a client-focused, Human centered approach. The strategy focused on salvaging the existing system and rapidly delivering the functionality Zambelli KG critically needed.
- Expert Data Extraction & Configuration: We developed bespoke code to parse the raw Treston data, successfully formatting it for easier editing by Zambelli KG and import into Odoo. Crucially, we implemented Odoo's advanced pricelist features to handle the complex pricing rules — the very feature the previous partner failed to utilize.
- Targeted System Enhancements: To improve tracking and procurement, we added a dedicated "manufacturer code" field to products and configured specific vendor pricelists and mail servers, streamlining communication from within Odoo.
- Enhanced eCommerce Experience: A third-party plugin was installed and configured to display variant-specific descriptions on the shop front-end, ensuring customers received detailed and accurate information for each product configuration.
- A Partnership Approach: We established a highly communicative and personal relationship, ensuring faster response times and a clear understanding of Zambelli KG's goals, directly contrasting their previous experience.
- Empowerment through Documentation: A comprehensive knowledge base was created to document procedures for updating and maintaining clean product data, empowering the Zambelli KG team to confidently manage their system.
The Impact
The successful project rescue has fundamentally transformed Zambelli KG's operational workflow. The ability to generate accurate quotes for complex products is now estimated to be 40% faster. The team can now monitor and steer the entire sales process from a single source of truth within Odoo. They are actively leveraging the CRM app to track new leads and the Sales app to seamlessly generate professional quotations and sales orders, finally realizing the efficiency gains they had initially sought.
The Final Word
Our requirement was clear: we didn't just want to offer individual products in our online shop, but also products with different variants and prices. Right from the start, OCTIC convinced us with a "live" test showing that they could not only implement this complex scenario, but also make it maintenance-friendly and sustainable.
Since then, OCTIC has been a reliable partner at our side. Following the successful launch of our web shop, together with OCTIC we are gradually expanding the functions of Odoo. Starting from 1 January 2026, we will have fully integrated our entire accounting system into Odoo. Projects like this can only succeed with a genuine partnership where both partners see eye to eye.
OCTIC may not have the loudest sales force, but they do have a team of programmers and experts with social skills and a solution-oriented approach who obviously enjoy their work. That really makes a difference!
